Eptanisa
Eptanisa, by tradition called the Heptanese, “the seven islands”, are a group of large islands consisting of Zakynthos, Ithaca, Corfu, Kefalonia, Kythira, Lefkada and Paxoi which are located in the Ionian Sea but also include many smaller islands. Every summer period they host a high number of visitors and their main characteristics are the considerable vegetation with pine and olive trees and very impressive beaches of rare beauty. They have an individual cultural character with many Italian influences.

Zakynthos
Zakynthos, also known as Zante and referred to as “Fiorio di Levante” by Venetians, as there are over 7,000 types of flowers to be found here, is the third largest island of the Ioanian Sea. Visitors will encounter the Venetian architectural influence in the main town and surrounding areas and the island has extended sandy beaches with turquoise waters, forests and charming traditional villages. The locals make a continuous effort to protect the two endangered animal species of Zakynthos, the Caretta Caretta sea turtle and the Monachus Monachus seal.
There are no ferryboats available from Athens Piraeus Port to Zakynthos. Ferries to this destination only depart from Killini, a port town on the western side of the Peloponnese and the trip lasts about 1 hour. During the summer season, there are ferries between Zakynthos and Kefalonia but you may also travel by plane, the flight is approximately 40 minutes.

Ithaca
Ithaca, famous worldwide as the mythical island of Odysseus, is a very remote and quiet island. A destination preferred by families, couples and visitors who seek tranquil holidays. Beautiful crystal clear waters in shades of blue and green, secluded coves, pretty villages in green settings, many trekking paths and diverse tavernas offering fresh fish and tasty local dishes.
There are only ferries departing from Kilini in western Peloponese to Kefalonia and then you continue by boat to Ithaca, a trip of approximately 1 hour and 55 minutes. There is no airport on the island but you can fly to Kefalonia and travel by ferry thereafter.

Kefalonia
Kefalonia is the biggest island of the Ionian Sea and most famous for its breathtaking and endless white sandy beaches with cobalt blue and emerald green waters, some of which are only reachable by foot or by driving down on narrow twisting roads. A favorite spot is the picturesque port of Fiskardo with its popular fish restaurants and shops, well visited by yacht owners. Activities offered include all sorts of water sports, such as sea kayaking and scuba diving, available on many large organized beaches and visitors can explore the more secluded beaches by regular boat excursions. You will see many sandy coves and rugged landscapes but it is also a very green island. The Corgialenos Historical and Cultural Museum is considered one of the finest in Greece.
Kefalonia can be reached by ferryboat from Patras or Kilini, a journey of 2 ½ hours. The drive from Athens to these ports is about 3 hours. The flight from Athens is approximately 1 hour.

Kythira
Located on the southern side of the Peloponnese and quite distant from the other Ionian islands, Kythira is a sheltered island with a very relaxing atmosphere. The Venetian architecture is particularly apparent in the main town Chora, which provides a breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea. Wonderful beaches, pretty villages in Medieval style, charming monasteries and you may even find ghost villages to explore.
The island offers a variety of accommodations, mostly small seaside hotels, traditional holiday apartments and rooms to rent. The Venetian Castle above the main town and the small church inside the cave of Aghia Sofia are certainly worth a visit.
The fastest way to travel to Kythira is by plane from Athens, a 40 minute flight. Alternatively, you drive to the Peloponese and take the boats from the ports of Gytheion or Neapoli, a 5 hour drive from Athens and the ferry crossing takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Lefkada
Lefkada is said to be the most exotic Greek island and is often compared to the islands of the Caribbean due to the striking blue colors of its white sandy beaches, which are surrounded by abundant vegetation. It is located west of the Greek mainland and is a holiday destination for every taste, presenting impressive landscapes, lovely villages by the sea with tavernas offering fresh fish and traditional local cuisine and a variety of boat excursions are available to explore this beautiful location.
Accommodation mainly consists of traditional holiday apartments and rooms to rent but you may also find a number of luxurious resorts and boutique hotels. The waterfalls of Nidri and the Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni are the most visited spots of the island.
Lefkada is connected to the mainland through a small bridge and can, therefore, be easily accessed by car. The drive from Athens is about 6 hours.

Paxos or Paxoi
Paxos is surely the least commercial of the Ionian islands and truly magnificent. It is mostly loved by its visitors for the beautiful scenery, which seems almost unreal, the crystal clear aquamarine waters and the notable hospitality of the local people.
It is a small island that can easily be explored by foot, bike or car and there is a feeling of relaxation and tranquility throughout. Τhe main town of Paxos is rather small with Venetian architecture and a maze of side streets leading to the main square on the seafront, which hosts many pretty cafes, bars and restaurants which offer a high standard local cuisine. Sea taxis are available for trips to the nearby islands of Anti-Paxos and Mongonissi.
Paxos is served by Corfu. Visitors usually fly from Athens to Corfu and then travel by sea or hydroplane to reach the island. Flying Dolphins take about 1 hour from Corfu. Sea Taxis can also be chartered privately. If you are traveling to Corfu or Paxos by car, there are a number of ferry companies that operate from Italy and Igoumenitsa.

HELLENIC PARLIAMENT
The Hellenic Parliament (Greek: “Parliament of the Hellenes”, transliterated Voulí ton Ellínon) is the parliament of Greece, located in the Old Royal Palace, overlooking Syntagma Square in Athens. The Parliament is the supreme democratic institution that represents the citizens through an elected body of Members of Parliament (MPs).

THE CENTRAL MARKET
The Public Market Place of Athens has been in business nonstop since 1886. It consists of a fish market, vegetable market and a meat market extending along both sides of Athinas Street.
Also known as Varvakeios Agora, it is open every day, except Sunday, from early in the morning till late afternoon. In the meat market you will find historic shops which have been there since the 70s or before, with excellent, pure local meat, cut right in front of you. The same goes for the fish market, full of fresh fish arriving there in the early hours of the morning. In the adjacent alleys, a complex of small businesses is developing, with traditional Greek products and aromas that will overwhelm you.
