Chios

Chios is a large island with an authentic character. Although it offers a variety of adorable beaches for relaxation, the island is mostly famous for its Medieval villages, castles and Byzantine monasteries. It offers a peaceful atmosphere and is located on the eastern side of the Aegean Sea, very close to the Turkish coast. This island is popular among families with kids.

It has beautiful beaches, picturesque villages, many museums and sights to visit, as well as nice seaside villages with restaurants offering delicious traditional dishes.

Chios is connected by ferry to Cesme, a port close to Izmir in Turkey, serving as a ferry connection between the two countries.  Quite distant from Athens, some 9 hours by boat and approximately 2 ½ hours by plane.
