Patmos is the holy island of the Dodecanese and, therefore, a well visited religious destination which combines cultural tradition with natural beauty, offering its visitors peaceable holidays with scenic landscapes and notable beaches. The picturesque capital is built around the famous monastery established in the 11th century and consists of white colored houses and alleys. Many artists, famous people and ship-owners prefer this destination to also visit the small nearby islands of Lipsi, Arki and Marathos by boat.
Accessible by ferry boat from Athens Piraeus port but a rather long journey, approximately 7 to 9 hours, according to the choice of ferry boat. Since it is a small island there is no airport.
