Kea

Kea island, also known as Tzia, is located south of Attica and right opposite the town of Lavrion. Although it belongs to the islands of the Cyclades, its architecture and landscapes have little similarities to the other islands. It has exceptional beaches with clear waters and very popular trekking paths to Ancient Karthea and the Monastery of Kastriani. It is also a hiker’s paradise with numbered routes that take you through various landscapes to remote coves and the ruins of ancient cities.

Due to its nearness to Athens, about 2 hours by road and then ferry boat, it is a very popular and preferred destination by Athenians, many of which have their summer houses here.

The island has a rich history, an interesting architectural structure, a beautiful main town with a Medieval castle and the famous Stone Lion, several picturesque seaside villages and the restaurants and tavernas in Kea are among the best in Greece.  Accommodation options include luxurious boutique hotels, upscale resorts and villas, charming studios and apartments and rooms for rent.Kea can be reached by ferry from the port of Lavrion and the trip only lasts 50 minutes to 1 hour.  The drivefrom Athens to Lavrion is approximately 1 hour.
