Spetses

Another magnificent island in the Saronic Gulf, close to Athens and ideal for short term holidays or a weekend get away with its relaxing atmosphere. Most preferred for its sailing and hiking opportunities and the impressive main town with its long promenade and yacht marinas, small shops, attractive boutique hotels and studios, a few exclusive hotels with pools and spas, nice cafes and restaurants and an interesting night life.

The beaches are lovely but in a distance from the main town and can only be reached by either bus or boat. Vrellos, Aghia Marina and Aghia Paraskevi are some of them worth visiting. The most famous place of interest is the Museum of Bouboulina, a traditional manor which was the home of the famous heroine of the Greek Revolution.

Hydra is 2 hours away from Athens and has frequent ferry connections with Poros and Spetses, as well as with Ermioni in the Peloponnese, a boat ride of 20 minutes.
